About
I’m Jules Norfolk and I’m married to Khwanjai who is a Thai Chef, she actually lets me run this blog by myself.
This video web-log is dedicated to Thai food and will cover the topics of
Authentic Thai Food
Thai Food Tips
Thai Food Insights
Thai Food Education and
My observations on Thai culture generally.
Real Thai Food (not out of a jar)
My audience are ordinary folks who want to learn to cook authentic Thai food using traditional Thai methods and ingredients, they are people who love to learn and have a sense of humour.
People who take a pride in their cooking and derive pleasure from seeing others devour/enjoy the results of their culinary efforts.
Most of my viewers are members of our sister site ThaiRecipeVideos.com where you can watch and learn as we demonstrate and implement the tips you will see here.
I will be adding new posts every time we add a new video to the Thai Recipe Videos website or I when discover a great new topic of interest. (Probably 2-3-4 times a week if commitments allow)
I am doing this because I believe Khwanjai IS the best Thai chef I have ever encountered and I want the world to understand, that anyone can cook Thai food providing they have the proper tools ingredients and guidance, it’s not difficult, it’s easy once you know what you are doing but it’s even easier to to cock it up and any fool can do that if you’re misinformed or only given partial information.
Trust me I know! I have seen so many half arsed recipes and videos posted on the net it makes your eyes water, but worse than that, we saw people being exposed to crap from so called authority websites, which ultimately will taint peoples experience with Thai food so we decided enough is enough. Thai recipe videos was born, it is a membership driven site so we have to deliver quality because there is no advertising on the site.
Then followed this blog; ThaiFood-TV because I wanted to share some of the delights of Thailand other than teaching people how to cook great Thai food. We live in a small jungle just outside Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand (about 3-4hrs drive NE of Bangkok) immersed in the real Thai culture which is often missed by tourists who only visit places westernised beyond recognition in most of the major Thailand tourist destinations.
Nakhon Ratchasima is the second largest city in Thailand and known nationally as Korat, (pronounced Korlaat).
On 6th-15th Dec 2007 Korat hosted the 24th SEA Games (South East Asia Games) it’s the equivalent to European Olympics. As is often the case Thailand walked away with a convincing overall win and a stack of Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals. The ceremonies started the day after His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej‘s 80th birthday so a busy time for him. The King is not only loved and respected by everyone in Thailand, he is revered throughout the world as a great statesman and leader and not least the worlds longest serving monarch.
Ps. This Video Blog will not go live with videos until sometime in January 2008
